    Three climate zones are characteristic for this border area, depending on altitude: humid continental (500-800 m), sub-mountain (800 \u2013 1,300 m) and mountain (Alpine) for the higher altitude. The basic characteristics of mountain and sub-mountain climate are moderately warm and relatively short summers and long, cold and snowy winters. A pleasant freshness can be felt at higher altitude during the summer, the fall is usually warmer than the spring which is not too long. The fall is the period of abundant rains.<\/p>\n

    The snow, which can reach up to 2 meters during the winter, stays till August in some places, chasms for example. (If you try to cool the fresh milk in snow then, you get some kind of ice cream \u2013 a fresh, organic treat).<\/p>\n

    The northern winds, which bring chilliness and snow at winter, are emeritus for fair, sunny and stable weather at summer. Local winds are called danik (day wind) and no\u0107nik (night wind).<\/p>\n

    However, stability is a relative term. \u201cIt\u2019s a mountain, after all\u201d is usually added by the locals as an explanation with a reminder not to go anywhere without a jumper or a raincoat. And with a reason, the speed at which clouds, rain and chilliness appear on the mountain is incredible.<\/p>\n

    It can start snowing in the mid of August on Hajla. Early morning fogs are normal everywhere.<\/p>\n

    Also, the difference between day and night temperatures in katuns is quite large. Socks, clothes and woolen blanket are the best choice for complete enjoyment in the evening\u2019s freshness.<\/p>\n

    Tanned sheep skin (with fleece) is a perfect insulator. You can lie on them safely at grass, in shade; they are a perfect preserve for the moisture from the soil.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
