    GENTIAN \u2013 GENTIANA LUTEA<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Healing characteristics of this herb are well-known from the times of the rule of Illyrian king Gentius, in the first century BC. Gentian is can be found in the vegetation of mountain turfs. It is \u201cbetrayed\u201d by its beautiful yellow flower, so it\u2019s not difficult to find it. One should be very careful when using this herb in healing because of its side effect influencing the sight.<\/p>\n

    EDELWIESS – LEONTOPODIUM ALPINUM<\/strong><\/p>\n

    It is native to moderate scree and mountain turfs. It is eagerly collected by the mountaineers but, due to it being very scarce, this plant is endangered and thus strictly protected.<\/p>\n

    ALPINE SEA HOLLY \u2013 ERYNGIUM ALPINUM<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Even the largest aesthete would remain silent in front of this plant. The diversity of colors, shapes and nuances leaves you breathless upon seeing it. It grows separately or in groups.<\/p>\n

    SPIKE HEATH \u2013 BRUCKENTHALIA SPIKULITOLIA<\/strong><\/p>\n

    It is native to Carpathian \u2013 Balkans floral element. It grows in acidic soil with a lot of light, even though it can endure a light shade.<\/p>\n

    HOUSELEEKS \u2013 SEMPERVIVUM KOSANINI <\/strong><\/p>\n

    Houseleeks is an endemic species of Prokletije region. It settles in the cracks of silicate rocks. It can occasionally be seen in limestone, rockery and pastures. This plant is medicinal, decorative and eatable.<\/p>\n

    GYMNADENIA NIGRA \u2013 NIGRITELLA NIGRA<\/strong><\/p>\n

    You will be pleasantly surprised when you see this plant on mountain turfs, at 2,000 m altitude. Its flower is dark, compactly shaped in a ball and its smell reminds on chocolate.<\/p>\n

    FRITILLARIES \u2013 FRITILLARIA GRACILIS<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This plant was botanically described in 1844 by the German botanic Wilhelm Ebel. It is native to Sutorman. In the period of its flowering, it is quite a memorable experience to be around it.<\/p>\n

    ALPINE ASTER \u2013 ASTER ALPINUS<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This plant is a broad forb, having a purple-blue flower, golden yellow in the center and it is ideal for decorating rockeries and cracks of carbonate rocks in the area of mountain turfs.<\/p>\n

    GENTIANA \u2013 GENTIANA COCHIANA<\/strong><\/p>\n

    A large flower on top of a short stem makes this plant very attractive and that is the reason for the Botanical Garden of the Prokletije flora in Brezojevica, Plav to be named for it. When it blooms in spring, this plant with its sky-blue flower makes you feel as in a fairytale.<\/p>\n

    HOLLY \u2013 ILEX AQUIFOLIUM<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Evergreen tree which grows individually or in smaller groups in beech or pine-fir forests. Its fruit is a red drupe and being an evergreen tree makes it interesting in horticulture.<\/p>\n

    AGRIMONY \u2013 NARTHECIJUM SCARICUM<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This extremely rare, endemic and tertiary relic plant species of the Balkans is native to acidic soil with lots of water and moisture. It deserves attention and strict protection.<\/p>\n

    VALERIANS PANCICII \u2013 VALERIANA PANCICII<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This plant was named after the famous naturalist Josif Pan\u010di\u0107, an academician and prolific researcher of the flora of Serbia, Montenegro and Bulgaria. This species is endemic and it is a tertiary relic of southeast Dinarides and it represents the symbol of Botanical garden of mountain flora of Montenegro in Kola\u0161in.<\/p>\n

    NIKOLA\u2019S VIOLA \u2013 VIOLA ORPHANIDIS SUBSP. NIKOLAI<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This endemic subspecies was described in 1873 by the Hungarian botanic Pantocseck and represents a rarity of the southeast Dinarides. It was named after the sovereign prince Nikola I Petrovi\u0107, who had a lot of appreciation for natural research in Montenegro, he encouraged and supported it.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
