    WESTERN CAPERCAILLIE (lat. Tetrao urogallus)<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Wood grouse is a forest bird from the grouse family which belongs to a group of highly endangered species. It can be called an ornament and pearl of mountain habitat. Besides that of nature lovers, wood grouses have attracted attention of writers and painters, as well. It is especially interesting because of its love song in the period of mating.<\/p>\n

    BONELLIS EAGLE (lat. Aquila fasciata)<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Bonellis eagle is small up to medium size eagle from the family of accipitridae. It is a resident breeder which can be found in forest, usually hilly habitats. It hunts a large range of animals, and usually catches them alive. It usually hunts from cover, by a quick dash from inside a tree but it will also catch prey by quartering hill slopes like other eagles, or making a stoop from a soaring position.<\/p>\n

    HAZEL GROUSE (lat. Tetrastes bonasia)<\/strong><\/p>\n

    People call it forest grouse or forest hen. It inhabits forest-mountain areas. It is endangered by hunting because of its tasty meat. The males are usually very dominant and they do not allow the presence of another male close by.<\/p>\n

    THREE – TOED WOODPECKER (lat. Picoides tridactylus) <\/strong><\/p>\n

    Unlike all the other woodpeckers in Balkan, it does not have dark red spots on head and around the tail and an adult male has a yellow cap. It belongs to endangered species. It is native to coniferous forests, especially those attacked by insects, after the fire or flood because it feeds on them. It also likes fruit and tree sap. It nests in trees, in the holes it excavates every year. While looking for the insects in the tree bark, it makes the holes in a row, so the bark looks as if it has long creases. It also makes these holes in wooden poles.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
